7. Saffron
With a cost that can range from $400 to $1,000 for each kilogram, Saffron is one of the most expensive spices in the world and it gains the seventh place of our ranking. It is native to Greece or Asia Minor and it is collected and handcrafted. Moreover, it’s interesting to note that to collect 1 kg of saffron it’s necessary to pick 300,000 flowers.
